More than $200million will be received by the Fiji government from China, in an agreement signed this morning for Fiji's Nabouwalu Dreketi road upgrading project that involves 70km of roads.
The borrowing interest will be at 2% with more details of the loan to be revealed later.
Also Fiji and China have signed agreements on Technical Cooperation and Framework Agreement on the Provision of Concessional loan between China and Fiji.
China’s chief legislator and chairman and party secretary of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress Wu Bannguo has been accorded a traditional welcome ceremony at Sheraton Fiji this morning.
Through an interpreter, Bangguo said they appreciate the traditional cultural greeting this morning but more importantly the friendly sentiments of the prime minister and the Fijian people towards the Chinese people.
Bagguo added that he sees the whole country is prosperous and thriving under the leadership of the prime minister.
Banggor arrived late last night at the Nadi International Airport, with a large contingent of media and some Cabinet Ministers who will play a crucial role in the signing of several agreements between Fiji and China.
The Chinese delegation was received at the airport by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Fiji's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, Esala Teleni and cabinet ministers.
