With a number of major sporting events underway, over 200 drivers were booked for speeding this weekend.
A Joint Operation between Police and Land Transport Authority has resulted in the arrest of 7 drivers in Viti Levu who were allegedly driving under the influence of liquor between Friday and last night.
Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said these7 people are in police custody and are expected to appear in court tomorrow.
Mishra said their operation continues around the country and confirmed that about 300 cases of traffic offences have been recorded in the last two days.
He said out of these cases there were over 200 speeding related offences.
He has warned drivers to be within the speed limits as majority of the accidents occur due to speeding.
