Disaster Coordinator Vuli Gauna said immediate assistance was provided in terms of new clothing, towels, warm blankets, temporary shelters and cooking utensils.
In addition, Gauna said to its primary mandate which is the provision of clothing, Red Cross is working with district DISMAC teams to distribute bottled water to the evacuation centers and flood stricken villages in the Western and Central Divisions.
Todate, 15,600 liters of bottled water have been trucked into Ba and Nadi towns and just this morning an additional 1,200 blankets, 600 black packs and 300 water containers have been distributed.
The Red Cross said their centers in Rakiraki and Ba continue to serve as temporary evacuation centers for 10 families and they hope to complete visits to the affected areas including upper Naqali and Muaniweni by Sunday.
