Over 170 Police Officers will receive medals from the Acting President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau for their dedication and contribution to the Fiji Police Force over the years.
Around 95 officers will receive the Fiji Police Medal and another 78 will be recognised with the Fiji Police Long Service Medal.
Minister for Defence Ratu Epeli Ganilau said he fully endorsed the recommendations by the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni as these men and women have served not only the people of Fiji but played an instrumental role in UN peacekeeping missions abroad.
One of the notable recipients for both the Fiji Police Medal and Long Service Medal is Director Police Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau.
A medal presentation ceremony is expected to be held later to honour these police officers.
