A joint effort by police and villagers of the Keyasi highlands has led to the uprooting of more than 1,400 marijuana plants with a street value of more than $200,000.
Director Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau confirmed the joint operation by chiefs and villagers of Keyasi helped police uproot the plants over the weekend.
SSP Tabakau said cultivators are still on the run and the drugs would have been sold in the urban centers and those areas where people are not cultivating marijuana.
