The Termite bio security taskforce have identified over one thousand homes and schools in Lautoka that have been affected by termites.
The Taskforce has been carrying out "Operation Kadivuka" for the past six weeks and have found out that of the over 4 thousand homes and schools tested - 1,225 have been infested by termites.
Taskforce spokesperson, Rosa Dalituicama said that for these homes and schools the taskforce has identified the area or the infrastructure affected by the termites and once the base stations or the medicines arrive from overseas, the buildings will be quarantined.
Dalituiloma revealed that as a precautionary measure they have replaced walls and floors of some houses and in some cases, school children have had to have their classes in tents.
The two schools where the students have had to use tents are Ahmadhiya Muslim School and Ami Chandra Memorial School.
