More than one thousand people living in a rural settlement outside Labasa town now have FEA power supply which was commissioned this morning.
The people of Nuknuk, Yalava, Tabia outside Labasa made numerous requests to government since 1993 to install FEA power there however their request were not fulfilled.
Transport Ministry Spokesperson Sainiana Waqanaibete who is in Labasa said the government contributed close to a quarter million dollars for the project.
She said this project was also part of government initiatives to uplift the standard of those living in rural areas.
