Over 100 farmers in Navua have formed a co-operative to start rice farming in their area.
The CEO of Nakaulevu National Rice farmers Co-operative, Naresh Chandra said farmers are facing hard times and decision was made to start rice farming following a meeting with government officials later this week.
The Agriculture Ministry is expected to comment later.
