Police have issued a stern warning to all outlets selling pirate DVDs and music CDs following a raid in Nadi yesterday afternoon.

Deputy Director Operations, Superintendent Erami Raibe said what all outlets should realise, is the fact that the new Amendment Act came into effect on Tuesday and it is now the law.

He adds that they are questioning the owner of the shop in Nadi after receiving a complaint from members of the public.

Nadi Police raided Lal's DVD Plus located in the Nadi Main Street and confiscated 5,000 pirated discs.

Meanwhile, the owner, Sumeet Kumar said that he was not selling pirated goods but was actually in the process of removing the pirated DVD's.

It understood that a number of raids will be conducted in the coming days and weeks.
