In a twist of events, New Zealand based Dominiko Waqaniburotu who was earlier ruled out of the Flying Fijian’s Europe tour because of injury, has now been named in the Waikato team to play Canterbury this Friday.
FRU High Performance Unit manager Talemo Waqa confirmed that Waqaniburotu contacted them this week that he has opted out of the tour because he did not know the extent of his injury which he suffered in the game against Wellington.
Waqa added the doctors had given him the green light to play for Waikato against Canterbury but FRU have made a decision based on Waqaniburotu’s earlier request not to be in the team for Europe.
Following the dropping of Waqaniburotu, the management team had named Sekonaia Kalou as a replacement.
The Flying Fijians will play France in the opening game of the Europe Tour on the 14th of next month.
