Ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra held talks earlier this week with Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama on possible investment opportunities in Fiji.
The Permanent Secretary for Information Lt. Colonel Neumi Leweni while not revealing much confirmed the meeting took place on Monday.
The meeting took place before Commodore Bainimarama jetted out of the country on his way to the Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting in Vanuatu.
According to PAC News, Shinawatra stayed overnight in Fiji and departed for Tonga on Tuesday.
Thakskin was believed to be heading next for Tonga and then to Port Vila in Vanuatu where the annual meeting of the heads of the Melanesian Spearhead Group of countries, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Fiji is being hosted.
Thaksin is wanted in Thailand to answer to corruption charges.
