An ousted minister from the Soqosoqo Duavata Ni Lewenivanua (SDL) led government involved in an assault case in the United States (US) has been charged.

Fijivillage has established that the ousted female minister has been in America for some time and we have also received confirmation that she was found in possession of a diplomatic passport from Fiji.

It is understood that the authorities in the US have already contacted Fiji's Immigration Department asking officials whether the person is still a minister as she is carrying the official Fiji diplomatic passport.

The ousted minister allegedly assaulted a person in San Francisco.

We are currently trying to speak to Immigration Director Commander Viliame Naupoto.

He is expected to comment later this morning.
