The game may be professional and modern now but Fiji Rugby Union's National Academy Programs Manager Frank Boivert believes that our rugby identity should be preserved.

Boivert made the comments during the last panel discussion at the Fiji Rugby Centenary Conference at USP yesterday.

The Frenchman highlighted that he did a research on the kind of passes that Fijians do and he found that our players can come up with 13 different passes compared to overseas players who only make up to 3 different passes.

Boivert said this shows the amount of talent of local players even before they are properly coached.

FRU Chief Executive Officer Manasa Baravilala said they are working towards preserving the identity of Fiji rugby.

The FRU conference ended last night.
