Our doors are always open and I will always be willing to listen.

These are the words of the Special Administrator for Suva and Lami, Vijendra Prakash who said ever since taking office their policy on dealing with squatter settlements remain the same and they will always listen to people's needs first before taking any action.

Prakash said the same should be told to those staying at squatter settlements, that if they have any problems then they should come to them instead of running to the media. He adds this is the stand they will take now in dealing with squatter settlements.

When asked on how long until the standoff between the Council and those residing in the Muanivatu squatter settlement in Vatuwaqa, will be settled, Prakash said it will be up to the residents to come to the Council and see how a solution beneficial to both parties, can be reached.
