Our relationship should be based on trust, respect and dignity.
These are the words of Interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum at a press conference this afternoon on Fiji and its international relations mainly with Australia and New Zealand.
Sayed Khaiyum said the Interim Government wants to have a cordial relationship with all the countries in the South Pacific based on confidence, trust, respect and dignity however he adds this is not so.
Sayed Khaiyum said the New Zealand and Australia governments have been completely disengaged with Fiji.
The Interim Attorney General goes on to say that Australia and New Zealand had earlier engaged fully with the then Interim Government after the 2000 coup, as well as illegal governments in places like Thailand and Pakistan adding that this is unfair treatment.
He said this shows that the New Zealand and Australian Governments are bullying the Pacific.
