Super Rugby‑winning Highlanders wing Patrick Osborne is poised to make his long‑awaited comeback from injury at the most opportune moment and hopes to feature for Saturday's NPC premiership final between Canterbury and Auckland in Christchurch.
The Fijian‑born finisher has been sidelined since Canterbury's fourth round, although he was named in the run‑on side that hosted Taranaki at AMI Stadium on September 27.
Osborne ultimately pulled out during the warm‑ups and the 28‑year‑old's painstaking recovery became a regular, and usually light‑hearted.
Canterbury will host Auckland in the premiership final at 6.35pm Saturday while Hawkes Bay will take on Wellington at 6.35pm Friday in the Championship final.
