Archbishop elect Father Peter Loy Chong declared his profession of faith and oath of fidelity last night at the Sacred heart cathedral which serves as his last mass as a priest before his ordination today.

The profession and oath are prerequisites to being ordained to the Episcopate and must be witnessed and recorded before the ordination can occur.

Three consecrating bishops will ordain Father Peter Loy Chong today and the principal consecrating bishop will be Bishop emeritus Petero Mataca.

Meanwhile, around 10,000 people are expected to converge at the Vodafone Arena this morning for the Episcopal ordination.

About 150 priests, 20 bishops and 52 altar boys are expected to be part of the ordination and a choir of 300 will also be singing.

Catholic Church spokesperson Tukuni Cama said the event costs around $180,000 but they are expected to spend less than that.

The ordination of Archbishop Elect Father Peter Loy Chong will begin in this hour at the Vodafone Arena with the installation to be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral tomorrow.
