The Opposition has released a statement in response to the recommendations which the Ministry of Justice and Anti‑Corruption has made in the report on the LTA industry to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala.

They are calling on government to hold off any haste changes and decisions and allow a Parliamentary Select Committee to look into the findings of the report and allow parliamentary debate on its merits if need be.

The Opposition says parliament must first receive and scrutinize the supposed Land Transport Authority investigation report before any changes are made to the LTA.

Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Aseri Radrodro  says if this is to be the trend, then all investigations into the affairs of the other institutions should be done.

One of the major recommendations made by Ministry of Justice and Anti‑Corruption in the report on the LTA industry is that the current membership of the Land Transport Authority Board needs to be replaced.

It had highlighted that the replacement of the LTA Board is to instill confidence in the LTA as an institution and allow for the recommendations made in the report to be implemented effectively.

A number of complaints were made against the LTA Board, in particular the composition, meetings and processes of the Board.
