Opinion Polls Favour Obama
Republican John McCain is attempting to defy the opinion polls however it does not look good for him.
The BBC which is in the McCain camp in Phoenix, Arizona, said some of the people are already conceding that Barack Obama will be the next President.
In Chicago, the Obama camp is ready to celebrate as they await Obama's arrival.
Polling is closing in a number of US states from this hour so start expecting some results from the next hour.
130 million Americans are expected to vote today to elect the new US President.
Voters across the United States are flocking to the 300,000 polling stations.
Record numbers are expected to turn out, adding their ballots to the 29 million people who have voted early.
There are projections that Obama and McCain have won one state each so far.
As the results start coming in, CNN projects that Barack Obama will win Vermont and John McCain will win Kentucky.
