A combined operation by the Drugs Unit from Suva and the Ready Action Unit from Nadi led to the confiscation of dried leaves believed to be marijuana worth close to $20,000.

Assistant spokesperson Sergeant Suliano Tevita confirmed that the raid was conducted in an apartment in Nadi at around 5pm yesterday.

Officers raided the apartment and upon searching they confiscated 13 parcels and three plastic bags full of dried leaves in a room.

An apartment worker was taken into custody.

He is also under investigation for allegedly trying to bribe a police officer for $500 who was conducting the raid.

The charges are expected to be laid soon.
