The opening hours for businesses under the Public Emergency Regulations (PER) will now be relaxed.

Permanent Secretary for Information and Military Spokesperson Lt. Colonel Neumi Leweni said the PER which deals specifically with the opening hours for businesses will be relaxed based on the governments recognition of the contribution the business community makes to the nation’s economic development.

However, Lt. Col Leweni stressed that businesses should operate strictly within their approved hours as stated in their licences.

He added that nightclub owners in particular will be closely monitored to ensure they abide by their approved operating hours.

The PER will remain in place till August 10th.
