A parent who has learned to survive with her daughter's disability has called on people to recognize children with disabilities as they too are human beings.

Neini Nasalato whose five year old daughter is totally blind and is attending Fiji Society for the Blind said children with disabilities are often stared at and are not being recognized.

The Fiji Parent Support Group with the assistance of the Fiji Society for the Blind is holding an open day tomorrow and Nasalato said this open day has been organized to create awareness on the importance of special education in the country.
