Eleven teams have so far qualified for the Rio Olympics men’s sevens competition next year.
This means that there is only one spot left.
The men’s teams that have qualified for Rio next year are Fiji, New Zealand, Brazil, Great Britain, Australia, South Africa, Japan, France, Kenya, Argentina and the United States.
The Great Britain Sevens teams will have players from England, Wales and Scotland.
A final Olympic qualification tournament will be held next year and this will give teams such as Samoa, Tonga and Hong Kong an opportunity to secure a spot in Rio next year.
The exact date and place for this tournament will be announced once all other qualifying tournaments are completed.
Meanwhile, the teams that have qualified for the Women’s competition are New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Fiji, Great Britain, Colombia, United States, France and South Africa.
The 2016 Rio Olympics will be in August next year while the 2015/2016 HSBC Sevens series will start on the 4th of next month.
