One record has fallen so far in the Suva Zone 2 Athletics meet currently underway at the TFL National Stadium.

The record was broken by Suva Grammar's Noela Taqai in the senior girls 1,500 metres event.

Taqai set a new time of 5 minutes and 17.2 seconds breaking her own record of 5minutes and 19.2seconds last year.

Taqai bagged Grammar's first gold medal of the day in the Girl's Division.

Meanwhile, Marist Brothers High School has taken the lead in the medal tally of the boys division bagging a total of 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 2 bronze to lead the Fijivillage medal tally.

Two Gold medals came from the 1,500 Junior Boys finals while the three other medals came from the field events in the Intermediate Boys javelin, the senior boys Shot-put and the junior boys high jump. But it will be a major tussle this afternoon.

Suva Grammar School is in second place in the boys division with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze while Third are Waidina Secondary and Latianara High School with 1 Gold and 1 silver each.

Looking at the Girls Division, the Fijivillage Medal tally Waidina now lead with 2 Gold 2 Silver and 1 Bronze, Lomary Secondary is second with 2 gold medals from the 100 metres final in the sub junior and intermediate girls, while third are Suva Grammar and Rampur College with 1 Gold and 2 bronze medals.
