Quick action by National Fire Authority (NFA) today saved the old GPH building from being completely burnt down as fire fighters were able to contain the fire from spreading.

Manager Corporate Affairs Mileta Ting told Fijivillage that the fire that started at around 8am this morning could have been more damaging, if the call had been received later.

Fire fighters were at the scene in five minutes after the call was made.

Ting said the fire had apparently started from one of the rooms and initial investigations at this stage indicated that the fire could have resulted from an electrical problem however investigations are continuing.
