The handing over of the ANZ stadium to the Fiji Sports Council will take place this week.

Fiji Sports Council CEO Litiana Loabuka said the project manager has started to inspect all the sections of the new stadium.

Loabuka said she cannot confirm how long the inspection process will take but stated that all sections of the stadium will be thoroughly checked.

Meanwhile, this year’s Coca-Cola Games will be the biggest ever in terms of the number of participating schools.

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association General Secretary Vuli Waqa said 148 schools will take part this year compared to 123 last year but the number of athletes has decreased.

Waqa said last year 2,204 athletes took part but they are expecting about 2,140 athletes this year.

Waqa also said they will have to check out the new ANZ Stadium before making any changes to the two day Coke games.

The national torch relay also started at the Coca-Cola factory this morning.

The torch will spend the night at Adi Cakobau School.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held on the 16th and 17th of next month.
