The Police Commissioner has called on his officers to treat drivers who will be caught drink driving with a lot of respect in this festive season.
Commodore Esala Teleni said that it is important for his officers to carry out their work in accordance with what is in their strategy although some of the drivers may be drunk.
Teleni also called on key stakeholders like the National Road Safety Council (NRSC) and the LTA to assist them in trying to have a accident free festive season.
Meanwhile Police Traffic Director SSP Mahesh Mishra said those who are caught drink driving or who fail a breathalyzer test will be kept in custody, without bail, until the next available court sitting.
