The Prime Minister and Army Commander, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama confirmed that Brigadier Pita Driti and Lt Colonel Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara were asked to go on leave because they had a significant amount of leave remaining.
Commodore Bainimarama said this matter needs to be addressed as the military wants to clear outstanding leave of all the officers.
Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga will take up the post of Land Force Commander soon while Major Amani Suliano is the new Commanding Officer of the 3FIR Unit.
Meanwhile the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, Lt Colonel Jone Kalouniwai has told Pacific Beat that the two senior officers, Brigadier Driti and Lt Colonel Mara are now taking their long leave and remain at their quarters at QEB.
