A group of police officers based at the Taveuni Police Station are under investigation for allegedly chasing a number of nurses from their quarters on Thursday night.

Officer-In-Charge Taveuni Police Station, Inspector Kolinio Vunaki who is leading the investigations told Village News this morning that all the officers involved in the case will be questioned today.

Inspector Vunaki added that no such order came from the superiors to chase the nurses away.

The officers who were in civilian clothing were from the Operations and Criminal Investigations Department. They went to the nurses picketing site on Thursday night, picked up some nurses in their vehicle, took them to their quarters and ordered them to vacate the nursing quarters if they will continue with the strike.

Director Health Services Northern, Doctor Ami Chand is expected to comment later this morning.
