A Police officer was allegedly assaulted in Nadera this morning when he tried to apprehend a man who was trying to cut open a grill and enter a house to rob a family.
The Police officer was allegedly struck with a pinch bar and was seriously injured during the incident.
He has been taken to the CWM hospital.
The incident happened at around 3 this morning when Valelevu Police received a call from a family in Qarase Road that someone was trying to enter their home.
Police were quick in their action however when one of the Officers tried to arrest the man, he was struck with a pinch bar.
The man then fled the scene.
