The Interim Government will soon introduce an office of the Independent Legal Services Commissioner which will investigate complaints against lawyers and will be responsible for taking disciplinary actions against them.
Interim Attorney General, Aiyaz Saiyed Khaiyum in a press conference this afternoon stressed that they have been receiving numerous complaints from the general public against lawyers.
Khaiyum said some new laws will also come into effect from early next year regarding the setting up of the office.
Cabinet has approved a budget of half a million dollars for the setting up of the office.
The Fiji Law Society is expected to comment later.
