The Oceania National Olympic Committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding Agreement with the North West of England.

FASANOC President Vidhya Lakhan said the MOU confirmed that ONOC and in particular it's 15 Pacific Island members had signed an agreement to use the North West of England as the training centre for the ONOC region for the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Lakhan said the two major cities in the region are Manchester and Liverpool and the region generally includes many of the UK High Performance Training centres as well as facilities that will provide appropriate competition and training for regional athletes.

He said the actual training opportunities are yet to be defined but would include both Olympic and non-Olympic sports.
