The Oceania Football Confederation has confirmed that the new Pacific Cup Tournament could be staged as early as November.

OFC general secretary Tai Nicholas said the tournament will be played either in Suva or Lautoka.

He has also confirmed that six countries, Fiji, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Tahiti will take part in the tournament.

The Pacific Cup will replace the Melanesian Cup and will be played similar to the IRB Pacific Nations Cup format.

Nicholas added that if they fail to stage the tournament in November, it will surely take place in March 2010.
