Australia flyhalf James O’Connor could be in doubt for next month’s series against the British and Irish Lions after he injured his sternum.

O’Connor was hurt 20 minutes into the Super Rugby match between the Rebels and the Blues where they lost 32-36.

The 22-year-old missed much of the last international season through injury.

The Melbourne back initially continued to play after receiving treatment but was forced off minutes later after tackling Blues centre Rene Ranger.

Meanwhile, looking at other matches, the Waratahs beat the Stormers 21-15 and the Kings won over the Highlanders 34-27 this morning.
