O-League newcomers AS Magenta held Waitakere United to a 1-1 draw at Noumea's Stade Numa Daly.

This draw has left Auckland FC two points clear at the top of Group A after the first round of matches.

With much at stake for both teams, tempers flared in the 75th minute and Fiji's Roy Krishna was handed a red card for retaliation.

United, who won the O-League title in 2007 and 2008, will now have to play catch up after defending champions Auckland City beat Tahiti's AS Manu Ura 5-0 last week.

United and Magenta now sit second equal in Group A behind Auckland City while Lautoka are top of Group A ahead of Hekari United FC, Tafea FC and Marist FC.

Meanwhile in the English Premier League; Chelsea produced an impressive attacking display to expose Blackburn's flaws and claim a thumping 5-nil win, which sends them top of the Premier League.

The win was Chelsea's biggest ever against Blackburn and sees them leapfrog Manchester United.

In other games that were played, Birmingham beat Sunderland 2-1, Wigan beat Burnley 3-1, Hull and Portsmouth played to a nil-all draw, Stoke beat Tottenham 1-nil and Astin Villa held Wolverhampton to a
1-all draw.
