Labasa Police are awaiting the post mortem report of a 4 day old baby who died after he was injected in the thighs by a nurse last Thursday.
Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri had confirmed the baby’s mother was breastfeeding him when a nurse came and injected the baby twice in the thighs.
The baby screamed and died instantly.
The baby's mother lodged a report with Labasa Police claiming that the death had been caused by negligence.
Police are also expected to take the statements of the nurses and the doctors present in the ward that night.
Post mortem will be conducted this morning.
