The Ministry of Health said the submissions from the Fiji Nursing Association for a 110% pay increase will not happen anytime soon.

Health Permanent Secretary Dr Eloni Tora said he has not received any submission for a pay rise from the Fiji Nursing Association.

However, Dr Tora said when the 2014 National Budget announcement is made this Friday they will then know who will get a pay rise.

Fiji Nursing Association General Secretary Salanieta Matiavi in an earlier interview said, the nurses are hoping for a pay rise when the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama announces the National Budget for 2014 this Friday.

Matiavi also said although the nurses were given a 3% pay increase this year, the cost of living is too high and that this increase was not enough.

Matiavi said between January and July this year, 16 nurses resigned and went abroad for job opportunities.
