Fiji Women’s Crises Centre Coordinator Shamima Ali said they did nothing wrong yesterday and Police should not have detained them.
Ali said Police Officers treated them well which shows that calls for their arrest was coming from somewhere else.
Those who were taken in for questioning included Ali, Noelene Nabulivou the Coordinator of Women's Action for Change, Edwina Kotoisuva and some other NGO members.
These activists were participating in a peace vigil to show their solidarity with human rights defenders in Tibet and were sighted for alleged unlawful assembly outside the Chinese Embassy in Suva.
