Northland 7s skipper Rhys Te Nana and teammate Matt Harrison are over the moon after being selected by New Zealand Maori 7s team coach, Wayne Buck Shelford to be part of the team at next week's Uprising Fiji International tournament.

Te Nana said he got a phone call from Shelford on Monday night informing him to come down to training at North Harbour on Wednesday as he was part of the team to Fiji next week.

The 21 year old electrician captained the Northland Sevens team at the National Pub Charity Sevens Tournament in Queenstown last weekend.

Te Nana and Harrison will assemble with the Matua Parkinson coached side, before flying out to Suva on Tuesday next week where the team will go into camp and acclimatize for three days.

The New Zealand Maori team is in Pool D and will play alongside Digicel Matai Txt team of which Waisale Serevi is part of, Samurai International and Uprising 7s team.

The two-day Uprising Fiji International 7s kicks off on Friday next week at the TFL Stadium in Suva.
