Stakeholders in the domestic airline industry are contemplating ways to carter for the increasing demand for flights between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu and to the outer islands.

Currently Pacific Sun is the designated domestic carrier with Northern Airlines, which is a new player in the market also given some routes to service due to the demand.

Northern Airlines General Manager Selwyn Douglas said logistically, the domestic routes are difficult to service and with Air Fiji closing down there are many opportunities for his company.

Douglas said they also intend to get in a third aircraft as an estimated 700 people book in daily for domestic flight services.
