Ministry of Youths, Sports, Employment Opportunities and Productivity in collaboration with Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji are offering Northern school dropouts a course in Motor Vehicle Mechanics.

The course is fully government funded and the participants are to provide 100% attendance.

The Ministry coordinates the programme through Labasa Arya Secondary school vocational center and the programme follows normal school hours starting at 8am.

The course consists of ten weeks theory and four weeks of industrial attachment which will enable the dropouts to pursue a career in Automobile engineering.

It will also enable the individual to understand the Motor mechanics concept and secure self or paid employment.

According to the Course coordinator and North Youth Officer, the course was identified in accordance with the availability of job market and there has been an increase in the demand of skilled workers.

Meanwhile 15 participants were identified to for the programme through a registration and counseling programme.
