Hotel and resort operators in the Northern Division are pleading with the authorities to increase the number of flights to Labasa and Taveuni to help bolster the tourism sector in Vanua Levu.
Taveuni's Garden Island Resort general manager Vira Lokteff said they spend thousands of dollars in trying to bring tourists to their resort, adding it would help if there were more airlines to transport tourists to the Northern Division.
Director Civil Aviation Akuila Waradi said their request is being looked into by the Aviation Committee.
