Large scale farmers in the north are slowly picking up their lives and have shown a great interest in exporting their goods and services.

Fiji Trade and Investment northern director Olivia Mavoa said this after a total of 31 potential exporters attended their seminar last month.

Mavoa said the turnout was great especially since agriculture in the north was badly affected during Hurricane Tomas.

She added that during the seminar there was a lot of interest shown in taking northern products to the next level which was exporting with the farmers being promised that there would be backing if they did so.

Mavoa highlighted that the north has already made its way into the national market in terms of forestry, fish and pearls, and this was going to be looked at boosting the economy further.

Meanwhile, FTIB has announced another exporter’s seminar today after there were a total of 65 participants around the country and more requests pouring in.

The speakers expected in the workshop include those from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, FIRCA, and Department of Quarantine amongst others.

The workshop will be held at JJ's on the Park starting this hour.
