Nominations for all elections candidates close at 12pm today.

As 29 days remain for the elections, the proposed candidates and parties will have to meet the deadline of midday today to be considered for the polls.

Nomination forms accompanied by deposits of $1,000 for each party candidate and $1,000 for each independent candidate have to be delivered to the Elections Office.

Independent candidates will also have to present a list of 1,000 supporters with their nomination forms.

If a candidate wishes to withdraw his or her nomination form, he or she can do so by providing a written notice to the Supervisor of Elections no later than 12pm tomorrow.

The FijiFirst Party has now announced all their proposed candidates for the 2014 general election.

Party General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum submitted the nominations to the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem on Friday night.

The National Federation Party and the Social Democratic Liberal Party have also announced all their proposed candidates. However their names have not been nominated as yet.

The One Fiji Party has announced 15 proposed candidates so far while the People’s Democratic Party has 43 proposed candidates.

The Fiji Labour Party has announced 28 proposed candidates to date. This includes FLP Leader, Mahendra Cahudhry who cannot contest the elections. They will submit their nominations later this morning.

The Fiji United Freedom Party is also expected to announce its proposed candidates today.
