No witnesses to be called in alleged assassination case
Two defense witnesses Metuisela Mua and Sivaniolo Naulago gave evidence before Justice Paul Madigan yesterday afternoon.
Mua told the court yesterday there was no reason for him to kill the Commander.
DDP lawyer, David Toganivalu also asked Mua for his comments on the alleged assassination charges against him to which Mua replied that he had met the Commander a number of times at church gatherings and stressed that he had nothing against the Commander.
He also told the court that he=s wife is a relative to some of the Commanders nieces and nephews and that he is also related to the wife of the Commander=s elder brother.
When Toganivalu questioned Mua if he was asked by Ratu Inoke Takiveikata to brief the boys at Ballu Khan=s house, Mua said no and added that he did not attend any meetings on a Tuesday evening of October, 2007.
Mua told the court he was at a funeral gathering on Thursday and Friday when the alleged meetings were taking place.
Sivaniolo Naulago in his evidence told the court yesterday afternoon that he first saw Lance Corporal, Peniasi Kuli at Ratu Inoke Takiveikata=s house in Toorak when he went to drop some items for Takiveikata.
Naulago in his evidence told the court that when he saw Kuli, he could not trust him.
Naulago told the court that he was introduced to Kuli but left Takiveikata=s house within minutes.
He told the court there was no talk in relation to any assassination plan.
Naulago said that he met Kuli for the second time at his Sabeto farm house upon Barbados Mills request as he received a call from Mills that Kuli was coming to his farmhouse.
When questioned by DPP lawyer, David Toganivalu if Seveloni Keidreli had said in the meeting at the farmhouse to weaken the military, Naulago replied by saying nothing of this sort was discussed at the meeting.
Naulago also told the court that he had booked a room at the FTA building for a meeting to take place between Kuli and Mills adding that this was becoming a habit where Kuli was pestering Mills.
The case has been adjourned to next Tuesday.
