The Suva City Council has stressed that people will not be allowed to sell DVDs and music CDs on footpaths in Suva from next month.

Spokesperson Jillian Hicks said these people have obtained licenses from the Council to sell these items on the side of footpaths which will expire at the end of this month and will not be renewed. She said the Council has stopped issuing permits as they are trying to clear the streets.

Hicks said they have also received complaints from some concerned shopowners who sell original DVDs. People have paid $5 a day to sell DVDs on the streets and some even got licenses for three months.

Meanwhile, SPR Director, Ravindra Shankar Bhai Patel said video piracy has affected his business alot.
