The current rainy weather being experienced over Viti Levu is not expected to bring any significant relief for the Western division which is facing a drought over the last few weeks.

The Duty Forecaster at the Nadi Weather Office confirmed that a tough of low pressure lying over the Southwestern parts of the Fiji group has brought some relief with rain currently being experienced over most parts of Viti Levu, Yasawa's and parts of the Lau group.

However, he confirmed that they expect the trough to pass over by tomorrow afternoon with 50 millimeters of rain expected for some parts of Viti Levu over the next 24 hours.

The Duty Forecaster said they do not expect the current rainy weather to ease the drought situation as there is not enough rain to replenish the depleted water stocks in the drought stricken areas.

Unfortunately, the weather office confirmed that once the trough moves away late tomorrow, not much rain is expected in the weeks ahead apart from some brief showers for the Central division.
