The head of Fiji's second city has admitted that it does not have a proper evacuation plan in the case of a tsunami.
Lautoka City administrator Josefa Vucago said while they have tried to hold meetings with relevant stakeholders to come up with a proper evacuation plan, nothing has ever eventuated and to this day they still do not have one in place.
Vucago added one of the main issues they are encountering is to try and change the attitude of people during times of a disaster.
He added they are trying to hold a meeting next week with all the business communities, schools and government officials to come up with an evacuation plan in light of a tsunami warning or an actual tsunami happening.
