Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou hopes some good options come up this week that would result in further assistance to Team Fiji which requires $120,000 to make it’s $2.1 million budget for next month’s Pacific Games.

Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has already said that they will look at all the options early this week.

The government has so far given $600,000 to FASANOC for the Pacific Games.

FASANOC President, Joseph Rodan Senior hopes the government can look at some options. He gave an example where the Team Fiji athletes’ total departure tax is more than $80,000.

When asked by Fijivillage, Sports Minister Laisenia Tuitubou says they cannot make any promises but the matter will be discussed soon.

The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of next month.
