Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry said there are no plans as yet to restore the 5% paycut for the Civil servants as the decision lies with the Public Service Commission.

Speaking to Village News, Chaudhry said it is not the Finance Ministry who will decide on the restoration and if any restoration is to be made in the 2008 National Budget, than the directive is to come from the PSC.

PSC's Permanent Secretary, Taina Tagicakibau is expected to make a comment on this matter later this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Fijian Teachers Association's General Secretary, Maika Namudu in an interview with Village News last week, highlighted that the Interim Administration should stick to their agreement made with various Unions to restore some portions of the paycut.
